1992 G60 Corrado

This customer came to into Spikes via Instagram during lockdown. The owner had had his Corrado for quite a long time and was using it quite frequently and decided it was time to give it some love.

We just went for it, full bare metal. The car was super solid. We put replaced the doors on it just because the car was so nice and had I managed to find a set of new old stock doors. We put them on it and then put it completely back to its original colour of Pale Blue, as if it had come straight out of the showroom.

This car could quite easily hold its own any car show it went to, but the owner was just flat out using it when he got it back! It just turned out beautiful.

We’ve not done that many water-cooled Volkswagens, and this is first Corrado we’ve done. And rather than the standard car, this one was the supercharged G60 version.

We had it in during the COVID lockdown when our staff levels and workload was reduced so we were able to spend quite a bit of time on this project and really got into it.

The client also managed to get hold of a set of official factory upgrade BBS wheels, so we’ve also painted those. The car has returned to us since we painted it so that we could detail it before giving it a ceramic coating.

Overall this was a really enjoyable project. It was interesting working on a water-cooled VW for a change and it’s great to see the car getting used.
